HOW TO REGISTER ON serok bos DAFTAR: A STEP-BY-STEP BEGINNER’S GUIDE
BEFORE YOU START: ESSENTIAL PREP WORK
CHOOSE THE RIGHT DEVICE
Use a laptop or desktop computer instead of a phone. Serokbos daftar forms often have small fields and dropdown menus that are hard to tap on a tiny screen. Skipping this means you’ll waste time correcting mistakes or resubmitting because the page timed out.
CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION
Run a speed test to confirm at least 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload. A weak connection can drop you mid-upload, forcing you to restart the entire process. If your home Wi-Fi is unstable, go to a library or café with a strong signal.
GATHER REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Have these ready in digital format: national ID, proof of address (utility bill or bank statement), and a passport-sized photo. Each file must be under 2 MB and in JPG or PDF. Forgetting one document means you’ll have to log out, scan it, and start the upload again.
CREATE A DEDICATED EMAIL ADDRESS
Set up a new Gmail account just for serokbos daftar. This keeps registration emails separate from personal spam. If you reuse an old email, important messages might get buried under promotions and you’ll miss deadlines.
DISABLE BROWSER EXTENSIONS
Turn off ad-blockers and VPNs before you open the site. Extensions can break the registration form or hide required fields. If the page looks broken, you’ll assume the site is down and give up before you even begin.
PHASE ONE: ACCOUNT CREATION
VISIT THE OFFICIAL SITE
Type serokbos.gov.my directly into your browser’s address bar. Never click links from social media or emails—fake sites steal your data. Bookmark the real page so you don’t have to search for it next time.
CLICK “DAFTAR AKAUN BARU”
Find the bright orange button on the top right corner. If you click “Log Masuk” instead, you’ll see an error message and waste time figuring out why you can’t log in.
ENTER YOUR IC NUMBER CORRECTLY
Type your 12-digit Malaysian identity card number without dashes or spaces. One wrong digit locks you out for 24 hours. Double-check it before you hit submit.
SET A STRONG PASSWORD
Use 12 characters: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Avoid birthdays or pet names—hackers guess these in seconds. If your password is weak, your account can be hijacked before you even finish registering.
VERIFY YOUR EMAIL
Check the inbox of the dedicated email you created. Open the verification link within 10 minutes. If you ignore it, the link expires and you’ll have to restart the entire account creation process.
PHASE TWO: PERSONAL DETAILS
FILL IN YOUR FULL NAME EXACTLY AS ON IC
Type your name exactly as printed on your identity card, including spaces and punctuation. Any mismatch triggers an automatic rejection. You’ll have to call customer service to fix it, adding days to your registration.
SELECT YOUR GENDER AND RACE FROM THE DROPDOWN
Click the arrow to see all options. If you type instead of select, the field stays blank and the form won’t submit. This is a common mistake that beginners overlook.
ENTER YOUR DATE OF BIRTH IN DD/MM/YYYY FORMAT
Use the calendar picker or type it manually. If you use slashes or dots, the system won’t recognize it. You’ll get an error and have to re-enter everything.
PROVIDE YOUR CURRENT ADDRESS
Type the full address including postcode and state. Omitting the postcode causes delivery delays for your approval letter. If you move during registration, update it immediately or your documents will go to the wrong place.
UPLOAD PROOF OF ADDRESS
Drag and drop a recent utility bill or bank statement. Blurry scans get rejected. If your file is too large, use an online compressor—don’t skip this or your application stalls.
PHASE THREE: CONTACT INFORMATION
ADD A VALID MOBILE NUMBER
Use a Malaysian number that can receive SMS. International numbers won’t work. If you enter a wrong number, you won’t get the OTP needed to complete registration.
SELECT YOUR PREFERRED LANGUAGE
Choose English or Malay from the dropdown. If you leave it blank, the system defaults to Malay and you might miss important instructions.
SET UP TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION
Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator or Authy. Skipping this leaves your account vulnerable to hackers. If you lose your phone, you’ll be locked out until you verify your identity in person.
SAVE YOUR RECOVERY CODES
Print or screenshot the 10-digit codes and store them offline. If you lose your phone, these codes let you log in. Without them, you’ll have to visit a service center to regain access.
PHASE FOUR: DOCUMENT UPLOAD
SCAN YOUR IC FRONT AND BACK
Use a scanner or a clear photo in good light. Crop the edges so only the IC is visible. If the image is dark or blurry, the system rejects it and you’ll have to rescan.
UPLOAD YOUR PASSPORT-SIZED PHOTO
Use a white background and face the camera directly. Selfies or group photos are rejected. If your photo doesn’t meet requirements, your application is paused until you fix it.
SIGN THE DECLARATION FORM
Download the PDF, print it, sign it, and scan it back. Digital signatures aren’t accepted. If you skip this, your application is incomplete and won’t be processed.
CHECK FILE NAMES
Rename files to “IC_Front.jpg”, “IC_Back.jpg”, “Photo.jpg”, etc. Generic names like “Scan1.pdf” confuse the system. If the system can’t match files to fields, your upload fails.
PHASE FIVE: REVIEW AND SUBMIT
READ EVERY FIELD BEFORE SUBMITTING
Scroll through the entire form to catch typos. One wrong digit in your IC number or phone number means your application is rejected. You’ll have to start over.
CLICK “SAVE DRAFT” IF YOU NEED TO PAUSE
The system logs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you don’t save, you lose all progress. Always save before stepping away from your computer.
SUBMIT ONLY WHEN READY
Once you click “Hantar”, you can’t edit anything
